Scholarship Description
Each year, the university of Canterbury offer the F A Hayek scholarship for both domestic and international students at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
This F A Hayek Scholarship supports students toward study for an honours or master's degree in the Economics or Political Science at the University. It was established in 1994 by a gift from Alan Gibbs.
The general conditions for the F A Hayek Scholarship are as for the University of Canterbury Master’s Scholarships. The scholarship is open for domestic and international students.
Eligibility
The scholarship is tenable by students enrolled in a programme for a master’s or an honours degree in Economics or Political Science at the University with a course weighting in the range 0.75-1.50 EFTS. Such a programme must include a research component of at least 30 points.
The scholarship is tenable in either part one or part two of a two-year master’s degree programme. It is also tenable for 180-point, one-year master’s degrees offered by the Department of Political Science or the Department of Economics and Finance.

The University of Canterbury is New Zealand's second oldest university. It was founded in 1873 as Canterbury College, the first constituent college of the University of New Zealand. Its original campus was in the Christchurch Central City, but in 1961 when it became an independent university it also began moving out of its original neo-gothic buildings, which were re-purposed as the Christchurch Arts Centre.
